Right Respecting School Silver Award

The Unicef UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) supports schools across the UK to embed children’s rights in their ethos and culture.

The award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. It recognises achievement in putting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s practice to improve well-being and help all children realise their potential. A rights-respecting school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted.

We have achieved the Bronze award. To do this we have:

  • Informed the school community
  • Become familiar with the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child
  • Created a pupil led Steering Group
  • Reviewed our school practice for the three RRSA strands (Teaching and Learning about Rights/ Teaching and Learning though Rights - Ethos and Relationships/ Teaching and Learning for Rights - Participation, Empowerment & Action)
  • Completed an action plan

We are now working on achieving our Silver Award.

 Safe Remote Education Accreditation

We have been awarded with a Certified School Award by National Online Safety. This shows that we are trained in and meet the statutory online safety safeguarding duties outlined in the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) September 2021 guidance. It also shows our commitment to a whole school community approach to keeping children safe online.

School Games Silver Award

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

International Schools Award - Intermediate Level

We are delighted to say that we have been awarded the International Schools Award - Intermediate Level for our work with Simaiwa School in Malawi.

The International School Award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life and work in today’s world.

Our international work includes having Starfish Malawi visit our school, raising money and sending donations of Simaiwa School, sending photos and videos of our learning and having Zoom calls with children at Simaiwa School.

Shannon West, Head of UK Schools for the British Council, said: Dulverton's international work has earned the school well-deserved recognition with the British Council International School Award - Intermediate Certificate.

We are proud and delighted to work with this great school. Many thanks to everyone for all their commitment to developing international work and sharing excellent classroom practice and resources. This is enriching education for its pupils, and their excellent collaborative projects with partner schools overseas are bringing the world into their classrooms. International work is key support for developing skills young people need to be globally aware citizens of the future.

The International School Award encourages and supports schools to develop:

  • An international ethos embedded throughout the school
  • A whole school approach to international work
  • Collaborative curriculum-based work with international partner schools
  • Year-round international activity
  • Involvement of the wider community
