Swimming and Water Safety
At our school, swimming and water safety are an important part of the Year 6 Physical Education curriculum, ensuring pupils leave primary school with essential life skills.
In the 2024-2025 Year 6 cohort:
- 82% of pupils can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
- 78% of pupils can use a range of strokes effectively, including front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
- 97% of pupils can perform safe self-rescue in a variety of water-based situations.
These outcomes reflect our commitment to providing high-quality swimming instruction and water safety education. Our use of PE and sport funding has not had a direct impact on swimming and water safety attainment during this period, as provision has remained consistent.
We continue to prioritise swimming and water safety to ensure pupils are confident, capable and safe in and around water as they transition to secondary school.
